BBQ Tempeh Sliders

This is our quick and easy go-to meal for any night when I don’t feel like cooking up a storm. As you can imagine, we are huge fans of tempeh over here. For my omnivore friends who don’t know what tempeh is, you can learn more about it  here and here. Thankfully, I have been able to find one man who sells fresh Indonesian tempeh here on the island. For those in the US, you can easily find tempeh at both Trader Joes and Whole Foods.

I’ll leave the proportions for each ingredient in this recipe completely up to you. This is an easy meal to make for one or for a family of five. Use your judgment and alter things to fit your BBQ sandwich preferences. While mixing the BBQ sauce with the tempeh, if it starts to look a little dry, go ahead and add more. Like lots of garlic? Then mix in more! Prefer things spicy? Add some hot sauce or dried red chili flakes. Honestly, you can’t really mess this recipe up!

tempeh
1 medium sized chopped onion
minced garlic
BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon Braggs Amino Acids or soy sauce (optional)
wheat slider rolls

——–

Quickly cook the the chopped onions in a medium sized saucepan for about 2-3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and continue to cook for another minute or two. If using, add the Braggs Amino Acids or soy sauce. Crumble up the tempeh into little bite sized pieces and stir in with the onions and garlic. Once the tempeh has been warmed, add your BBQ sauce and cook until a desirable serving temperature. Scoop up the BBQ tempeh on rolls or bread of choice and serve! Easy as that!
